About this app

Medical FlashNotes is a clinical medicine reference and studying tool for students and residents, covering medicine, surgery, paediatrics, psychiatry, and obs & gynae. It is ideal for quickly looking up a condition on the wards, or studying for exams.

Browse or use the quick autocomplete search to access concise reviews of thousands of conditions, presentations, and drugs, with the ability to turn anything you read into a flashcard by swiping it. These are then stored in your custom flashcard stack to review later. Alternatively, the random flashcard mode allows you to quiz yourself using >5000 flashcards.

All the app data is stored offline - so there's no need to rely on wifi or a mobile signal - with a small file size of <10 MB.

The app is a free, non-commercial piece of FOAM (Free Open Access to Medical education).

The app is the best at what it does. It provides a wide array of topics presented it in a concise and easy to remember format, allowing the user to essentially learn/recall a random concept at the swipe of a finger. Studies have shown that learning a wide variety of concepts, rather than one concept studied in depth to be the best method for retention so the random assignment of concepts is great. Users asking for a search function need to go use MedScape or Amboss 😜

I don't normally write reviews but I just wanted to say that this app has been a lifesaver while on placement- with its concise, up to date information on a wide range of medial conditions- it covers just about everything a medical student should know! It's very easy to use :) Edit: it would be nice that for every condition, there are a couple of differential diagnoses (only some of them have it!)

Clear, concise and well sourced. Covers most important medical topics for clinical years of the UK curriculum and is useful both as a resource for quick review on the go but also for adding to your own notes/as a primary resource. For anyone who's used passmed it's basically the passmed textbook but better organised and arguably more thorough. Also massive props to the developer - a free app with no ads and great content? There should be an in app donate button!
